Pathways for your employees
Why Pathways?
- increase the skills of your workforce
- tailor training to suit the needs of your business
- create the specialists your business needs
- encourage employee retention
Pathways is a new concept in CPD, offering maximum flexibility and choice, designed specifically to meet the needs of organisations and their workforce. Your staff can sign up on a one-off basis for any of the individual modules described on the Pathways site. At any time, they also have the option of transferring to a named postgraduate award.
The Leitch Report’s Review of Skills states postgraduate skills can provide significant returns to organisations, individuals and to the economy as a whole. These higher level skills are key drivers of innovation, entrepreneurship, management, leadership, research and development.
Dr Paul Crowther explains,
“Pathways builds on our experience of collaborative working with industry and takes it one step further, allowing us to tailor our study programmes to the particular needs of our employer partners. Employers gain high quality staff development fit for purpose, and staff gain credible and transferable skills, expertise and qualifications.”
Organisations and their employees can choose their pathway from a range of modules allowing them to study a standalone module or build a number into a recognised academic qualification. This approach fits well with the recommendations from the Leitch Report. This recommends a shared national commitment for world class skills and says,
“Businesses will gain a more productive workforce and larger pool of skilled labour. Individuals will gain better job and pay prospects.”
The report concluded that higher level skills are key drivers of innovation, entrepreneurship, management, leadership and research and development. These higher level skills can only be fully achieved through successful collaboration between Higher Education and employers.
