Students as researchers: a student led collaborative project to evaluate and develop study skills resources to support autonomous learning for Real Estate Undergraduate students

Overview

This is a student led research and collaborative writing project during which second year students will produce a subject specific, study skills learning resource for first year students on the real estate programme.  This will require them to review and evaluate resources used during their first year of study; work collaboratively to write a resource targeted at first year students; and reflect on their involvement in the project and inform its future development.

Objectives

  • To develop the ability of the students working as researchers to write, manage and present project work in a professional context
  • To engage the whole student cohort in using and evaluating resources
  • To develop learners awareness of their skill set and personal development needs
  • To support learning development and the development of learner autonomy

Outcomes

Level 5 Real Estate students, working as researchers with their peer group, will

  • review and evaluate resources used during their first year of study
  • collaboratively write a resource targeted at level 4 students
  • reflect on their involvement in the project and inform its future development
