In this workshop the pupils used equipment not always available in schools to carry out practical work. Equipment and staffing was supplied by Bio-Rad Laboratories Ltd. Each school attending an event was provided with a kit for use back in school.

The ‘Genie in a Bottle’ kit was used at the majority of events. Pupils removed skin cells from their mouths and extracted their own DNA. This was then inserted into a plastic container to make a DNA necklace.
