Built on seven hills and five river valleys, and surrounded by open countryside, Sheffield is England's greenest city - it has four trees to every person, and more than a third of it is actually in the Peak National Park. It is an ideal touring centre for the Peak District, and there's nowhere better in Britain for outdoor pursuits like cycling, walking, climbing, caving, hang-gliding and riding.

Sightseers are spoilt for choice too. Close to Sheffield are several historic country houses, castles and gardens, including Chatsworth House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, where our Conference Banquet will be held. Two evocative museums at Kelham Island and Abbeydale Hamlet recall the city's industrial heritage. Plus, as far from the sea as you can get in England, we have Victoria Quays, Sheffield's peaceful canal waterfront in the heart of the city centre.
