Focus on Video

MELSIG will refocus on video for our next event which is hosted by the University of Nottingham on the 20th January 2015. Titled ‘Creative Lecture Capture, Webinars & Screencasting‘, the day’s programme is developing rapidly.

The event comes out of a long-standing interest to understand how the sector will make use of institutionally driven video initiatives. ‘Lecture capture’ is central to several presentations in the morning. As the day progresses the collective and creative MELSIG gathering will consider how this and other video-based approaches are being used to change the nature of learner engagement for example, in redefining feedback, reflection and active learning. Open learning, the flipped classroom and video in academic staff development will be discussed.

MELSIG hasn’t looked at iTunes U since 2009. The event will provide an opportunity to reflect on what difference it is making to three universities.

As usual we will hear about innovation and practice at our host institution which has been associated with educational video for many years and later in the morning colleagues from the region will talk about examples of current practice.

Following parallel workshops in the afternoon the day will conclude with its familiar audio roundup activity capturing everybody’s ‘take away’ highlights to be shared here.

The hash tag for the day is #melsigun
