NDC secondary and administrative data

As part of the NDC National Evaluation a range of secondary and administrative indicators have been collated for each individual NDC area.  All data available is accessible via the links below.  Indicators are also provided for each relevant local authority, region and for national benchmarks.  Data for a bespoke comparator area within the same local authority is also contained within the spreadsheets.  These are chosen on the basis of having a similar level of deprivation measured by the 2004 Index of Multiple Deprivation, containing a similar population size and being non-contiguous to the local NDC area.
The latest data available was released in July 2009.  This series of NDC administrative data is comparable to and continues the series previously released in July 2008.  The July 2008 data replaced all the previous indicators available via the National Evaluation.  This was due to revisions in the series made as a consequence of the ONS revisions to local area population estimates. At the same time improvements in data available were incorporated into the indicators.  In many cases the magnitude of the revisions was small in comparison to data released before this time.  The document below explains in detail the nature of the revisions made in July 2008.

Admin Data Revision (July 2008)

A minority of indicators have not been updated in July 2009 due to difficulties obtaining raw data from the relevant data owning organisations.  These include the:

  • Health indicators
  • Crime indicators

These data are the final batch of administrative data indicators that will be supplied to the NDC National Evaluation Team.

NDC household survey data
In addition to the secondary and administrative data Ipsos MORI as part of the NDC National Evaluation has undertaken a biennial household survey in each NDC area from 2002-2008.  The resulting data is available via:

Data accompanying the NDC Evaluation Technical Report

The New Deal for Communities (NDC) Evaluation Technical Report accompanies a series of seven volumes of the New Deal for Communities Evaluation Final Report which detail the findings from the National Evaluation of the New Deal for Communities 2001-2010.  The Technical Report provides a wide range of supporting evidence including details of the design of the NDC Programme and the national evaluation, data sources, statistical methods, analytical tools and outputs from analyses undertaken.

A set of data tables have been compiled to accompany the Technical Report. These contain core indicators for the period 2002-2008 for all NDC and comparator areas (main sample NDC and comparators); for the NDC and comparator area panels (those remaining in NDC or comparator areas between 2002 and 2008); for each separate NDC Partnership (by Partnership); and for the NDC and comparator area clusters (allowing for assessment of change in NDC areas which share similar characteristics).

The core indicator data tables include household survey and administrative data. Full details of the core indicators, and of the household survey and administrative datasets are included in the Technical Report.
