Sheffield Hallam University were commissioned by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) to explore whether school leadership teams are able to recruit and retain enough quality Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). More recent work on the project has also focussed on supporting and working with early career teachers in their second and third years.

This three year study is already benefiting those with an interest in NQTs’ recruitment, retention, development and progression and should in particular help school senior leadership teams maximise NQTs’ contribution to their school and to the future of the profession.

This web site has recently been substantially overhauled, with a lot of exciting new content added including key findings in important areas, and share examples of good practice in the form of video and audio discussions with senior leaders and teachers themselves. Please click on the menus at the top of the page to find out more.

For more information on the TDA, please visit www.tda.gov.uk
