Guidance

Effective guidance supported by accurate and full information is often the key to planning successful progression. Building Pathways is supporting a number of projects linked to the development of advice and guidance for learners.

Mapping, articulating and developing curriculum between partners

A continuing project of the BP partnership is to ensure articulation between FE in HE programmes and degrees in partner colleges. The aim of this project has been to obtain where possible full credit for HE in FE qualifications for advanced entry onto honours degrees in partner HEIs. The main focus of this work has been on progression to degrees in Sheffield Hallam University from HNC/Ds in colleges and the Project has had some success in ensuring full credit agreements in identified curriculum areas.

The next phase of this project is currently underway and a directory of HE provision on offer in partner colleges will be available from a link on this site. This aims to highlight articulation or top-up information to identified degree programmes where known. The directory will also provide information to identify progression opportunities to HE through vocational learning routes outside of university. The objective is to provide learners, who may not traditionally choose to progress, with information about alternate routes into HE that may be more attractive to them. The directory will be made available to learners on Level 3 vocational programmes, for new learners especially those undertaking work-based learning and for guidance staff. The database ofinformation will shortly be available from this website.
