Membership services

The following services are provided by SINTO

Resource discovery

No library can hope to hold every book or journal that its users might want. SINTO can help libraries identify locations for material in our region and assist their users in obtaining access to that material. See the SINTO Resource discovery guide.

Inter Library Loans and Document Supply

SINTO provides a local ILL and document supply scheme. Members who opt in to the scheme can request the loan of items or photocopies from other scheme members.

Not all SINTO Members opt into this Scheme, but any Member can apply. Currently the geographical area covered by the ILL Scheme is South Yorkshire and north Derbyshire. See List of ILL Scheme Members

No charge is made for the service itself but members can make a charge to cover the cost of photocopying and postage. Information on charging and invoicing should be shown in the SINTO Members' ILL Directory.

The scheme operates under a Service Level Agreement. Members' also have the opportunity to describe their individual services and contact details in the SINTO Members' ILL Directory.

The aim of the Scheme is co-operative working and the ILL Scheme does not seek to standardise Members' ILL services and procedures.

Members have their own loan and document supply procedures and stationery. However, if a request is to be made to a fellow SINTO ILL Scheme Member, it must be clearly marked with 'SINTO'.

The SINTO Office collects annual statistics for the previous year every April, and produces a report on the performance of the Scheme.

The ILL Group provides a forum for discussion, information exchange, and to review and plan activities and changes.
