ABOUT SINTO

Mission and Goals

SINTO is a partnership of library and information services in Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

Our Mission:

Information in all its forms is vital to the economy, commercial success, education, democracy and the well-being of the citizen. SINTO exists to enable the fullest use of information as a resource by bringing together the information services of local organisations in the public and private sectors.

Our Goals:

  • To provide a framework for information providers to work together for their mutual benefit.
  • To develop and promote co-operation, partnership and planning as a means of achieving more efficient and effective information services and thus contribute to the economic and social infrastructure of Sheffield and the surrounding area.
  • To provide training and professional development opportunities for LIS staff in our region.
  • To promote investment in information within the region and represent the LIS sector within local, regional and national forums.
