Striders Weekly Road Training Sessions
The two main road based training runs take place every week of the year on Mondays at 7.30pm from Heeley Baths (see details) and on Wednesdays at 7.00pm from Graves Tennis Centre (see details). These venues are well supported and are suitable for new members and people who wish to run with the club with a view to joining. The club also organises weekly track & speed sessions and occasional Special training runs.
Monday Evening Training from Heeley Baths, Broadfield Road, 7.30pm (see magazine article from January 2009)
This is a well supported club training venue also with a large number of ladies who attend. There are three groups run from this venue - a fast, a medium/fast and a slow/medium slow paced group. Distances are usually 7 to 8 miles in length (6 to 7 miles for slow/medium beginners and improvers) and are approximately 1 hour 15 minutes long. This venue is most suitable for new and/or inexperienced runners looking to improve or with a goal of running a 10km or half-marathon. Summer runs are often off road. There are shower and changing facilities (£1 per person), and there is a car park next to the baths (opposite Tesco Express). Meet 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start (we start at 7.00pm on Bank Holiday's). Wednesday Evening Training from
Graves Tennis Centre, Norton, 7.00pm
This is a popular and well supported club training venue. There are usually one or two groups each week from this venue - a fast/medium and a slow paced group. Distances vary from 8 to 11 miles in length. Summer runs are off road. There are shower and changing facilities (£1 per person) and a car park at this venue.
