Are you interested in participating in a research study about LGBT people's experiences of homelessness?

Why is the study being done?

Not much is known about LGBT people's experiences of homelessness and the particular issues they may face. The Government has made a commitment to increase understanding so that services can be improved for LGBT people.

Who can participate

You can take part if you are over the age of 16, identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans (LGBT) or as another gender or sexual minority AND you have been homeless in England in the past 5 years. This includes staying temporarily with friends, in hostels, sleeping rough, squatting, and other temporary housing situations.

Who is doing this research?

The study is being conducted by an independent research centre - the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) at Sheffield Hallam University - and has been commissioned by the Government Equalities Office and the Ministry for Housing, Communities & Local Government.

How do I take part?

A researcher from Sheffield Hallam University would interview you about your experiences of homelessness. The interview will be conducted informally, like a conversation. You would be asked about things like how you became homeless, what effect this has had on your life, and your experiences of support services.

To say thank you for taking part, you'll receive a £20 gift voucher. The discussion would take place somewhere where you feel comfortable and would last around an hour.

You don't have to talk about anything you don't want to discuss and you can stop the interview at any time and you will still receive your voucher. Everything you say will be confidential - your name won't be used and we won't pass your details to anyone else.
