The Science & Innovation Observatory
Science and innovation policy continues to be at the heart of the national push for economic growth and development. Ensuring a healthy supply of STEM skills is as vital as ever. Throughout much of the past decade, there has been a series of initiatives, culminating in the STEM Programme (in England), which aimed to provide better coordination to the range of projects and programmes in the STEM world.
As we move through the next decade, in a transformed political climate, the need for continued growth and development of our STEM skill base is seen to be essential, although not all commentators agree with the linking of education to innovation policy. We see a need for an independent voice, not beholden to government, to carry out research and evaluate policy and practice.
We believe we can provide that voice.
