Used for grinding
pulps and juices
(Never used for grinding hard solids)
Consists of two grindstones, the lower one belt driven the other
fixed below the feed hopper
A rotating brass plate is used to close and separate the grindstones
which determines the smoothness of the finished product
Preparation
for use ENSURE THE MACHINE IS SWITCHED OFF and isolated from the
power supply
Loosen the three locking nuts on the brass plate
Check that the drive belt runs freely. (Grindstones not touching).
If the drive belt is not free, turn the brass plate in the direction
to open the gap between the grindstones
Once the grindstones are separated make fine adjustments by turning
the brass plate in the close direction until the grindstones can
be felt to be just touching
Note the scale reading, on the brass plate, and rotate it in the
OPEN direction by FIVE scale divisions
Note this position or even make a mark on the plate
THIS IS THE OFFICIAL MINIMUM GAP (safety control for the machine)
Lock the brass plate in this position by tightening the three
lock-nuts and check for free movement
WHEN GRINDING
FOOD
Switch on the motor
Release the three locking nuts and open the gap, between the grindstones
wide
By turning the brass plate in the open direction and tighten the
lock-nuts
Now pass through the pulp / juice - collect it as it leaves the
chute
Close the grindstones in small steps, making a pass of the substance
at each setting.
DO NOT CLOSE THE GRINDSTONES BEYOND THE MINIMUM GAP SETTING
When the substance is satisfactory switch OFF the machine
Remove the hopper for cleaning and wash the grindstones and chute
with soapy water containing sterilising solution
Reassemble hopper making sure the red pointer label faces to the
front
PROBLEMS
Food becomes jammed in the hopper
Switch OFF the machine
Use a wooden spoon handle to free the blockage
NEVER USE FINGERS
If while the
motor is running, the grindstones jam together, the drive-belt
is thrown off the drive-shafts
Switch OFFand isolate the machine replace the belt onto the drive
shafts
