What do students with disabilities bring to the university? It appears that they take longer to integrate with the main student body. They may be blind, deaf, in a wheelchair, dislexic and have a different set of anxieties that other students do not have to consider in their day to day life. Do the tutors and lecturers have the right kind of skills to cope with different learners and how vocal are students with disabilities when it comes to complaining about their course or their lecturers? Often, students would find that they have to put extra time aside to access learning resources or getting from one lecture to another. Listen to the reflective sketch below and see if you can agree with the views and perspectives of a small group of students with disabilities who are in their second year of study.
