Community Involvement
and Work Based Learning:
Work based learning and
early childhood studies

Introduction

This section focuses on the experiences of students working in the community whilst attending a course in early childhood settings. The group of students who spent 8 weeks on placement were asked to record their experiences through an online discussion forum. A member of the Active Learning Active Citizenship Team encouraged the students to explore their concerns and to reflect on matters that related to their personal development as well as children's rights, the organisation that they were placed with and the theory that they were able to relate to during the 8 weeks.
