As an Associate Director of the CETL I am involved in projects to integrate employability and PDP as part of the student experience and embedding career management skills into the curriculum. I also work collaboratively with colleagues at other Higher Education institutions on employability activities.

Associate Director for the e3i CETL, Teaching Fellow in assessment and Principal Lecturer. Leading the Personal Development Planning Special Interest Group (SIG). Registered Nurse and certified instructor (advanced level) in non-violent crisis intervention.
Teaching Subject Area
My teaching areas have evolved over my time with SHU and now focus around leadership, enterprise/entrepreneurship, coaching and personal development planning.
Employability interests
Self - assessment, development of entrepreneurial skills within curricula, personal development and career planning and curriculum plus and value added. I was instrumental in the introduction of PebblePAD to SHU as a platform for integrating personal development planning into the learning experience and am involved in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of this initiative.

Gary is a Teaching Fellow in Employability in the Faculty of Development and Society and Associate Director of FDTL5 project Active Learning Active Citizenship.
Teaching Subject Area
He teaches modules on Politics and Sociology. He has a particular interest in social and political theory and in the politics of the media.

Gary's main work on employability is concentrated around work based learning, community engagement and on citizenship and work

Teaching Fellow for Employability in the Faculty of ACES and holder of a Faculty LTA Fellowship (until 2008).
I am also a member of the Faculty's Quality committee and as a member of the University Standing Panel have been involved in course validations for over ten years.
Outside SHU I am involved with the HEA subject centre Employability skills project, and with a JISC funded project on behalf of the Maths subject centre into the use of PDP.

Mathematics and computing, with a particular focus in the use and exploitation of technology.
Employability interests
PDP - particularly ways in which web-based technologies can help manage the process.
Integrating PDP into the curriculum, both to help students manage their learning and to help staff regularly monitor progress.
Raising staff awareness of ways in which aspects of employability can be enhanced, and student awareness of the purpose of doing so.
