Tilting Pan Risk Assessment

Before using the tilting pan ensure it is in the upright position and that the steam valve (V2) at the bottom of the pan is OPEN

Start the steam generator, turn the steam valve to the on position to admit steam to the tilting pan

When the steam pressure gauge shows 30 psi it is ready for use

Remove the cover plate from the top of the pan, put in the soup ingredients and replace the cover plate and secure into position

Switch on the Motor

Open steam valve (V1) to start the pan heating up

Close the steam valve (V2) to increase the temperature

When the soup is cooked for the required amount of time, switch off the motor, open the steam valve (V2) and close the steam valve (V1)

Empty the contents of the pan into a receiving vessel by turning the pinion wheel.

This operation should be carried out by two people; one to tilt the pan and one to catch the food.

Great care should be taken when emptying the tilting pan
