The politics of widening
participation 1: Introducing
diversity in Higher Education

Introduction

The traditional intake of students in Higher Education is falling. Student numbers are increasing from other areas such a mature learners, students with disabilities and ethnic minorities. The video below is an attempt to raise some of the issues and test out the ideas that in order to manage a diverse population of learners, universities need to adapt to the changing landscape. These changes are needed in order to ensure that the take up of courses in HE from people with different educational experiences is going convert to a positive learning experience with employment at the end of 3 years study. Work through the powerpoint lecture 'Debates in HE' before watching the video.
