Double Crossed
From September 2007 to August 2008 the Centre for Science Education at Sheffield Hallam University collaborated with science and history teachers from two South Yorkshire secondary schools on the cross-curricular transition project, Double Crossed.
The project aim has been to make science learning more accessible, effective and enjoyable by using cross-curricular methods to help contextualise science. By drawing on teaching and learning approaches adopted in history, the project has helped science teachers to focus more on the development of arguments, the questioning of evidence, and the application of thinking.
The end product has been two exciting and innovating cross-curricular resources which you can download to use with your class. Both resources can be used at Key Stage 2 or 3 either within a science lesson or during an off time-table exploration session.
