Health & Social Care Curriculum & Support GroupThis curriculum group meets at least once each term. The group has not been directly involved in a specific BP project this year but has provided a forum for staff involved in delivering health and social care programmes in FE and providers of nursing, social work and allied health professions education and training programmes from Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Sheffield and the Open University. Membership of this group has expanded and currently representatives of all BP partners attend the group with the local NHS Workforce Confederation, local NHS trusts, the NHSU and the LSC Quality Care Partnership in attendance. The group provides a reference point for sharing updates on curriculum development and provides a springboard for new activities. For example this year the group has provided an opportunity for disseminating ideas for new Foundation degree developments in Social Care, Mental health and Biosciences; for sharing information about a new South Yorkshire consortium CoVE in Health and Social Care; for supporting the development of a new Access to Mental Health programme; and for supporting BP activity to progress apprentices in care to HE. The group has also been a focal point for linking local LEA 14-19 curriculum developments with HE. The group works to ensure that progression routes into local HE programmes are smooth and the BP Project will facilitate dialogue between partners if concerns in this area arise.
