Projects Commenced 2005
There were a vast variety of projects that ran in the academic year 2005/ 2006, some were year long projects, others have had a longer timespan and have run for two years or more. Details of the projects are below:
Project: Developing the Vitual Learning Environment
Lead: Sue Bamford
Brief Description: This project aims to promote learner autonomy by setting up an expectation that students make use of the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to submit drafts and final copies of their work for peer and tutor feedback.
Project: Promoting Learner Autonomy in Engineering
Lead: Mike Bramhall
Brief Description: This project aims to deliver successful degree modules by embedding autonomous learning in line with the aims of the CETL, through the use of innovative, real life learning scenarios.
Project: Working with students to develop e-Portfolio as an integrated learning environment
Lead: Serena Bufton & Steve Spencer
Brief Description: This project aims to develop Personal Development Plans (PDP) as an integral part of the staff and student experience at Level 4 (L4).
Project: Deepening Participation For First Year English Students

Brief Description: The objective of the project is not only to make the first year itself a supportive, involving, enjoyable and challenging experience, but to create ways of thinking and working which will make the entire degree a deeply satisfying and creative learning process.

Brief Description: This project aims to promote learner autonomy through supporting learner engagement in the process of undertaking self-directed inquiry.
Project: Numeracy and the History Undergraduate

Brief Description: The project aims to promote learner autonomy by facilitating a learning environment for the development of undergraduate student research projects.
Project: Changing Assessment Cultures

Brief Description: The project aims to introduce new assessment practices, including improved feedback to enhance student learning, into the Social Sciences programme within the criminology route.
Project: Enabling Inquiry Based Learning
Lead: Mike McManus
Brief Description: The project aims to promote the use of Inquiry Based Learning in the social studies programme.
Project: European Challenge
Lead: Nick Nunnington
Brief Description: The European Challenge is an annual project that involves 80 students from Universities all over Europe working together on a complex consultancy project.
Project: An Inter-disciplinary Autonomous Learning Resources for the Built Environment
Lead: Nick Nunnington
Brief Description: The project builds upon an international field project for the MSc Property Appraisal and Management course which is supported by leading real estate companies including Cushman & Wakefield.
Project: Promoting Learner Autonomy through Assessment
Lead: Christine O' Leary
Brief Description: The project seeks to enhance the student learning experience by fostering the development of autonomy through effective use of self-assessment, collaborative/ peer formative assessment and portfolio-based assessment within the new undergraduate programmes in the Faculty of Organisation and Management.
Project: Personal and Professional Development Planning using e-Portfolio

Brief Description: This project aims to promote learner autonomy through supporting learner engagement through Personal and Professional Development Planning (PPDP).
Project: Enhancing Digital Portfolios
Lead: Anthony Rosie
Brief Description: The project involves the development of a digital portfolio, with students submitting analyses of specific topics using video, sound files and web pages according to their interests and to the topic at hand.
Project: ‘Just Ask’ Peer Mentoring Project

Brief Description: The aim of this project is to offer support to new students and to provide key skills development opportunities for existing students.
