Introduction
This conference was held on Thursday 19th May 2005 and was for people who see themselves
first and foremost as early years teacher educators and / or school based mentors who are interested in
preparing their students for an increasingly technological teaching and learning environment in nursery /
reception classes. The aim of the conference was to bring together lecturers, mentors and trainee teachers to discuss and
share approaches to using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in and early years setting. It
included opportunities to engage with software and hardware in active workshop contexts and explored
models of teaching and learning with and about ICT. The framework for this event arose from work done
at Sheffield Hallam University in peer tutoring in ICT arising from an Innovative Teachers project.
The Teacher Training Agency supported this conference and covered reasonable travel costs to
facilitate attendance.
