Social and Moral Responsibility

Introduction

Do young people have any respect for the rights of others? Sir Bernard Crick argued that citizenship education requires young people to learn about moral values and to develop their ability to apply these in practice. As such, citizenship education in this area focuses on developing individuals’ ability to act as moral agents in their choices, intentions and actions. How do we create the notion that everyone should be broadly accountable to their communities and for their actions?
