Workshops to Devleop Psychological Strengths to Discovering, Evaluating and Reusing Sound and Visual Resources

Overview

This project aims to facilitate the growth of self-confidence, self-esteem and other positive character strengths in our students. These qualities are deemed necessary to enable them to fully engage with their learning opportunities at the University and develop as learners as the progress through their course.

One of the core requirements of autonomous learning is confidence and this project aims to use measures and techniques from positive psychology to develop student confidence to facilitate their development as autonomous learners. This project will aim to do this through giving first year students an opportunity to assess their own character strenghts on their first day at university. The outcomes of the questionnaires were fed back to students as personal reports, which described thier three top strenghts. These reports have also linked with the students Personal Development Portfolios (PDPs).
