Course Fees

All you need to know about fees

How we collect fees

Payment may be made by direct debit, credit/debit card, cash or cheque (made payable to 'Sheffield Hallam University'). A direct debit and credit/debit card mandate will be included with your enrolment form. If you choose to pay by either direct debit or credit/debit card, we will send you an invoice at least fourteen days before the first payment is due, confirming the amounts and the dates on which your account/card will be debited.

If you are paying by direct debit, the authority will be valid for the duration of your course; there is no need to complete a further mandate unless your bank account details change.

If you are paying by credit/debit card, you should complete a new mandate for each year of study.

University regulations

All students have to pay fees. If you fail to pay any tuition fees by the due date specified on your invoice, we may be forced, at any time during the academic year, to withdraw you from your course and to withhold all University services and facilities.

If, at the end of the academic year, you are in debt to the University for any tuition fees, you will not be allowed to enrol for the next academic year until all these debts are paid.

If you are in the final year of your course, we cannot award your certificate, issue a letter of confirmation of award, or allow you to attend your graduation ceremony, until all tuition fee debts are paid.

Typical dates of when to pay by for Home/EU students:
September Intake - Two instalments in the first semester then two final instalments in February and April.

April Intake - One instalment in May and another in April of Semester one, then the final two instalments in November and January.

If your fees are to be paid by a sponsor/employer (including the British Council)

The University provides the facility to invoice your sponsor directly; however, it should be clearly understood that, should the sponsor fail to make immediate payment for any reason, you will remain personally liable for the full amount of your tuition fees.

Please provide a letter of authority from your sponsor at enrolment. A letter is required for each year of your course and should clearly state your name, course and year, the amount of contribution towards your fees and identify the name and address to which the fees invoice should be sent. The University will retain this document so please ensure you have a copy for yourself, if required. If we do not receive an authority from your sponsor, we will invoice you personally for your fees.
