Surgery

You can undertake a number of roles including the 'scrubbed' and 'circulating' roles.

Scrubbed role - wearing a sterile gown and gloves, you will have assessed the patient's needs and prepared all the necessary instruments, drugs and equipment required for the procedure to take place. Working alongside the surgeons, you will take an essential role in the patient's operative procedure, ensuring the health and safety of the patient during this time.

Circulating role - you will use communication and management skills to prepare the operating theatre environment and equipment within it. The circulating role also acts as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the operating theatre and hospital.

You can watch a video on a student's perspective of Surgery.
