Key roles in ODP...

The pages named 'A day in....' give you an insight into a typical day in the life of an ODP, covering three main themes, namely Anaesthetics, Surgery and Recovery. These are designed to show what practitioners might be doing at any specific moment during a typical working day.  However although the pages are representing the three specialities it needs to be understood that practitioners can easily transfer from one set or duites to another, e.g. the anaesthetic practitioner may cover some circulating duties, or the scrub person may follow the patient to recovery and then recover the patient in preparation for the ward.  This is because looking after patients holistically in an operating department is very much a team process that involves many differing skills and other professions.
