The Part 1 Report and issues emerging from it

Mike Coldwell, lead director of the study, Colin McCaig, co-director with responsibility for methodology and Terry Hudson, senior project adviser and head of Post-compulsory and Secondary Education at Sheffield, Hallam University, discuss two key themes emerging from the first report.

Discussion 1: Quality issues

Mike, Colin and Terry discuss some of the key findings relating to NQT quality, particularly strengths and weaknesses of newly qualified teachers in their first months.

Discussion 2: Working with other staff

The panel discuss issues around NQTs working with the wider school and children and young people's workforce, particularly teaching assistants.
